Brian J. Schultz, President
As President, Chairman, and Founder, Brian uses his multidisciplinary background in business, entrepreneurship, and chemistry to develop customer centric products and lead project teams. At Dimien, he has lead investment tranches resulting in more than $2.0 Million in federal, state, local, angel, and venture capital funds. Brian remains involved in the local startup scene as a mentor to fledgling teams through the Innovation-Corps Site program, the University at Buffalo TEC Panasci competition, and the local SBIR/STTR support system.
An entrepreneur from the beginning, Brian worked his local neighborhood by selling lawn mowing and painting services. He went on to earn a dual degree in Chemistry and Adolescent Education from SUNY Oswego. During his undergraduate studies he was voted into positions at the Chemistry Club (Vice President) and Outdoor Club (President). Immediately afterward, he earned his PhD in Chemistry from the University at Buffalo and graduated from the National Science Foundation Innovation-Corps program.
Outside of work, Brian spends time with his wife and three kids, explores local destinations, enjoys the outdoors, and is a food buff.
Sean W. Depner, Vice President of R&D
Sean started at Dimien in 2014 when the company was bootstrapping out of a small office. Sean is ideally suited for his role as the Vice President of Research & Development with a PhD in Chemistry from the University at Buffalo. Prior to which he proudly earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry from St. Bonaventure. Sean has published numerous peer reviewed scientific manuscripts, presented his research all across the US, and helped create the intellectual property portfolio Dimien has today. Sean’s strong background in ceramics, composites, nanomaterials, colloids, mixed liquid/slurry formulations, and polymers; has helped build up Dimien’s product library to include fun, new, and exciting materials.
Although higher education is what initially brought Sean to Buffalo, he appreciates the snow and is an avid Sabres fan.
Edward H. Donowick, Lead Chemical Engineer
Ed is a Buffalo native. Ed holds bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and chemical engineering. At Dimien, Ed is tasked with moving production forward from both design and implementation to analysis and processing. He has been the lead Chemical Engineer at Dimien since 2016 and brings a needed skill set to the team.
Ed is an avid tinkerer, which allows him to bring a lot of new ideas to the table. In his free time, Ed works on various projects ranging from automotive and home rebuilds, electronics, computer controls and programming, as well as home brewing. Ed also enjoys exploring the city of Buffalo by bicycle, fly fishing, and dumpster diving. Yeah, that’s right! One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
Rachael L. Killion, Treasurer
Rachael has a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University at Buffalo, which she earned in only three years. She has a wide array of acquired skills and attributes from past positions and life experiences. Rachael started her journey at Dimien in 2016. Her responsibilities have grown tremendously and she enjoys tackling new challenges that come her way. Today, Rachael is the Business Administrator and Treasurer. She embraces Dimien’s start-up culture and adds to the personality of our team.
Rachael was born and raised in Western New York, and is proud to call this area home. Outside of work, Rachael loves hiking, checking out new and “new-to-her” restaurants, and spending time with her dogs.
